@wolfnuts - If both parties were walking on the shoulder of a one line road, they would be across the street and could still face plant on the street. People walk on streets all the time at night. And if there was a party nearby, there would be lots of people walking down the same road.
Peach, the distance across the road (# of lanes) wont change that an object going from one side to the other, hitting the person in the back of the head (back facing road) then falling face first into the street.
I would like to draw out what I see when I read this but I can't. I mentioned the lane width because, to me, across the street from me is when we are both on blacktop but you are atleast ten feet away. So throwing chick is in lane one, faceplant chick is roughly in lane three. Then this is plausible.
I agree this was written weird, I'm not arguing just describing how I interpreted the events. Maybe the shock if the hit caused her to turn around and trip. Who knows...
